Position Title

Family Practice Physician (various locations)

Position Summary

Responsible for the medical care of LSCC patients by providing comprehensive out-patient primary care. Physicians are responsible for upholding the values and mission statement of LSCC and will conduct themselves as senior level, full time professional employees of the organization. Under the direction of the Medical Director, delivers primary care commensurate with training to patients of LSCC. Delivers care appropriate for an out-patient, primary care community health center with multicultural, multilingual patient population.

Experience and Education

Required

Preferred

  • Ability to speak enough Spanish to examine Spanish-speaking patients and converse on basic level strongly preferred.

Licenses and Certification

  • Must be in possession of a valid license to practice medicine in the State of Texas, current DPS and DEA certificates.

Responsibilities

  • Occasional evening clinic hours and weekend clinic hours are expected.
  • Examines, diagnoses, and treats patients of all ages.
  • Completes medical charts after each visit in the electronic medical records system.
  • Assures high quality educational experience for medical students, residents and other individuals in a training role.
  • Assists in internal quality control audits.
  • Provides quality medical care according to standards established by LSCC.
  • Provide supervision to advanced practice nurses in accordance with the LSCC Delegation Protocol/Collaborative Practice Agreement.
  • Supervises medical assistants and lab personnel in area of specific support services for patient care delivery.
  • Applies for and obtains staff privileges at community hospitals in the area as recommended/required by LSCC.
  • Will be available, if necessary, to participate in providing continuity of care including hospital in-patient management.
  • Attends internal and external meetings, workshops, and conferences, and participates on task forces. or committees, as necessary and/or required by LSCC.
  • Performs all duties and services in full compliance with LSCC’s Quality Standards.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Have a thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of medicine and allied services commensurate with his/her training.
  • Demonstrate a special interest in the area of community medicine.
  • Ability to relate to culturally diverse patients and community.
