Our clinicians, which include physicians and Certified Nurse Practitioners, are full time paid staff members who are dedicated to the mission of Lone Star Circle of Care. Each of them is a highly qualified medical professional who offers his or her patients personalized, compassionate care. Many of our physicians are also accredited faculty with the Texas A&M Health Science Center – College of Medicine, teaching the doctors of tomorrow about providing quality care in a community health setting. In addition, several of our Certified Nurse Practitioners act as preceptors for local nursing students.

Tracy Asamoah, M.D.

Dr. Asamoah is a child psychiatrist at LSCC and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Texas A&M Health Science Center - College of Medicine. She received her Medical Degree from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine in 1999. She then attended the University of California, Los Angeles Neuropsychiatric Institute, where she completed her psychiatry residency in 2002 and her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship in 2004. Dr. Asamoah is Board Certified in General and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is a member of the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, American Psychiatric Association, and AACAP Child Abuse and Neglect Committee.

Jo-Allison Bennett, LCSW

Jo-Allison Bennett, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at LSCC and a Clinical Instructor at Texas A&M Health Science Center - College of Medicine. She received her Master of Social Work degree from Texas State University in 1999 and has a background in providing mental health services to underserved adults. Jo-Allison has extensive experience in counseling and developing treatment plans for seniors, having spearheaded the Northern Nevada Senior Mental Health Outreach Program for over two years. She holds a Providers’ Certificate of Specialization in Aging from the Nevada Geriatric Education Center. Jo-Allison also has nearly 5 years of experience counseling military service members and their families. She received her designation as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners in 2003.

Dydia Burnsed, LCSW

Dydia received her master’s degree in social work from the University of Texas at Austin and has been working as a licensed social worker since 2002. She is a bilingual provider who joined Lone Star Circle of Care in January 2010 and believes strongly in the mission and values of the organization. She is a good listener for her patients and enjoys having the chance to help them strive for more in their life. Dydia has a particular interest in helping people with grief and loss issues, and is confident that she can help bring out the tools from within the patients that they need to cope and deal with life issues. In her free time she enjoys arts and crafts and working with her hands.

Lisa Collazo, LCSW

Lisa believes that good health care is an essential part of living a healthy and fulfilling life and is proud to have joined Lone Star Circle of Care in November of 2009. She received her Master in Social Work degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1991and became licensed as a Texas social worker in 1993. She has 11 years of experience counseling children, adolescents, adults, and families in many areas, such as trauma, addictions, grief and loss, and life transitions. Lisa’s philosophy of care revolves around assessing the strengths of her patients and empowering them to make choices that best suit their needs and personality. In her free time, Lisa enjoys watching movies, hiking, and reading.

Kristie Engel, Ph.D

Kristie Engel is a child psychologist at LSCC, an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Texas A&M Health Science Center (HSC) - College of Medicine, and head of the LSCC counseling services for HSC medical students in Round Rock. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas and specialized in child and adolescent psychology during her graduate training, clinical internship, and residency. Dr. Engel is a Licensed Psychologist in Texas, Virginia, and North Carolina and is credentialed with the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Texas Psychological Association.

Virginia Garay, M.D.

Dr. Garay is the Vice Director of the LSCC Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health and the Director of the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry. In addition, she teaches third- and fourth-year medical students in her role as the Clerkship Director for Psychiatry at Texas A&M Health Science Center in Round Rock. Ever since she began volunteering at nursing homes as a teenager, Dr. Garay has wanted to help seniors, and she is especially focused on ensuring the psychological well-being of underserved seniors. She earned her medical degree from the University of Miami in 2004 and completed her residency training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where she became the chief resident in psychiatry in 2007. While there, she received specialty training through a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry. and received the program’s Outstanding Clinical Excellence Award. Dr. Garay joined the behavioral health team at LSCC in 2009, where she plays an important role in developing LSCC’s evolving senior service line. She is a member of the Texas Medical Association and the American Psychiatric Association. When she’s not treating patients or teaching Texas A&M students, you can usually find Dr. Garay cooking, listening to music, or spending time outdoors with her two dogs.

Sandra Grisales, LCSW

Sandra is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at LSCC and a Clinical Instructor at Texas A&M Health Science Center - College of Medicine. She received her Master of Social Work from the University of Houston in 2003 with a focus on children and families. She also completed her internship in 2003 as a member of the therapy and psychological services team at the Children’s Assessment Center in Houston, which treats children who have been sexually abused. Sandra has experience providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults within a predominately Latino, Spanish-speaking community and continues to provide bilingual therapy services at LSCC. Sandra became a Licensed Master Social Worker in 2004 and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2007 under the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners. She is a member of the Hill Country Chapter of the Texas Association for Play Therapy.

Brian Kennedy, LPC

Brian Kennedy believes that each person who receives mental health services should be treated as an individual, and considers it a privilege to be able to help people change their lives in a positive way. He received a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University in 2006 and became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2009. Brian is trained in psychotherapy, group counseling, and teaching psychology, and has extensive experience working with adolescents, most recently through the Upward Bound program in San Antonio. He joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2009 because of the unique opportunity to work with a variety of patients in a community health center environment. In his free time, Brian enjoys cycling, traveling, and discovering new musicians.

Karen Kraham, LCSW

As a licensed clinical social worker and licensed clinical dependency counselor, Karen enjoys having the pleasure of working with people of varied backgrounds and particularly enjoys helping clients recognize their assets and potential. A graduate from the Smith College School for Social Work, Karen has been caring for patients for 10 years. She has many years of experience working with youth and families, both in their homes and in a clinical setting. Karen believes her great sense of humor and genuine kindness allow her to connect easily with young people. She joined Lone Star Circle of Care in January 2010 and enjoys music, raising animals and spending time with her friends.

Joan Maus, LCSW

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Joan enjoys getting to see her patients improve their lives and eventually leave therapy feeling more confident, more skilled, and more hopeful about their future. Joan earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2005. Before joining the Lone Star Circle of Care team in 2008, Joan provided counseling to children, adults, and families throughout Texas, most recently in a local school district and on Fort Hood military base. In addition to treating patients in our Psychiatry and Behavioral Health department, Joan serves as a faculty preceptor for Texas A&M medical students working towards degrees in psychiatry. Some of Joan’s areas of professional expertise include children and adolescents, military families, and managing grief and loss. Outside of work, Joan enjoys gardening, sewing, and singing.

Steven Prenzlauer, M.D.

Dr. Prenzlauer is the Director of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Lone Star Circle of Care and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Texas A&M Health Science Center - College of Medicine in Round Rock. He is also the current Regional Chair of Psychiatry for the HSC – College of Medicine. Dr. Prenzlauer received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed his internship at the University of Cincinnati. He then did his residency in psychiatry at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and had a subsequent fellowship at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. Dr. Prenzlauer is a Diplomat with the National Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, where he is on the Committee on Public Mental Health Services. His clinical and research interests relate to Public and Community Psychiatry, Integrated Behavioral Health, Addiction Psychiatry in both Adolescents and Adults, Attention Deficit Disorder in Adults, and Complementary and Alternative Medicine.

Lucius Ripley, M.D.

Lucius Ripley is an adult psychiatrist at LSCC and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry with Texas A&M Health Science Center - College of Medicine. He received his Medical Degree from the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio in 1980. He then attended the University of Texas Medical School, Southwest Memorial Hospital, where he completed a family practice internship in 1981. Dr. Ripley completed his psychiatry residency at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston in 1984. He is Board Certified with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

David Schlager, M.D.

Dr. Schlager joined LSCC in January 2010 as a psychiatric provider and also an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Texas A&M Health Science Center - College of Medicine in Round Rock. Dr. Schlager has over 25 years of experience in clinical psychiatry, including extensive expertise in working with people who have substance use disorders, and has been a medical educator for nearly 20 years. He received his medical degree from Tufts Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts in 1981 and completed his internship at Cambridge Hospital in 1982. He completed his residency in psychiatry in 1985 at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, where he was the In-Patient Unit Chief for the Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Schlager’s extensive clinical experience includes leadership roles as Director of Psychiatry at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport, New York, and also an Attending in Adult In-Patient Psychiatry at Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, New York. He is Board Certified in Psychiatry and is also a member of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He also completed his Psychopharmacology fellowship at Columbia University of Physicians and Surgeons in New York.

Nakia Scott, M.D.

Dr. Scott is a child psychiatrist at LSCC as well as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry with Texas A&M Health Science Center - College of Medicine. She received her Medical Degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas in 2002. She then completed a pediatric internship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2003. She also attended Texas A&M Health Science Center, where she completed her general psychiatry residency in 2005, and was awarded the “Best Resident Teacher Award”. In 2007, Dr. Scott served as chief fellow while completing her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship. Dr. Scott is Board Certified in General and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She has advocated for mental health services regionally and nationally through her work as a delegate of the American Psychiatric Association to the American Medical Association. Dr. Scott’s clinical and research interests include attachment parenting and complementary and alternative medicine. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Texas Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Kay Terrell, LPC

Kay earned her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary in 1997 and became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2003. Before joining Lone Star Circle of Care in September 2009, Kay worked in assisted living facilities and foster care agencies throughout Washington and provided therapy to individuals and families in Washington for six years. From 2007 to 2009, Kay provided counseling to people seeking care for the seniors in their family and managed admissions to a retirement facility in Georgetown, Texas. Kay’s philosophy of care centers around enabling others to experience success and make the choices that will lead them to a better life. She also has experience helping couples improve their communication skills and teaching people ways to manage anxiety and depression. Outside of work, Kay enjoys baking, being outdoors, and being around animals, especially her pug Daisy Jane.

Clydelle Ammerman, R.D.H.

Clydelle has been providing dental services as a Registered Dental Hygienist with Lone Star Circle of Care since 2007. Prior to joining the LSCC team, Clydelle worked for 15 years as a dental hygienist at various private practices throughout Texas. She believes that the most fulfilling aspect of providing dental care is showing patients an individualized plan of action for home care that will improve not only their oral health, but ultimately their overall health as well. Clydelle holds an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene from Lamar University.

Denise Armstrong, D.D.S.

Dr. Armstrong has been providing dental care to Lone Star Circle of Care patients since 2004 and is our Executive Director of Dental Operations. She has been a dentist for over 20 years and has a wide array of experience in private practice dentistry, teaching and mentoring dental students, consulting for hospitals, and performing community service/volunteer dentistry at various health fairs. After earning her DDS degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, she completed Advanced Education in General Dentistry courses and completed a General Practice residency through the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Armstrong is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, and the American Association of Hospital Dentists. In 2008, she was voted by her peers as one of Austin’s Top Dentists.

Helene Glanz, D.D.S.

Dr. Glanz deeply cares for and treats each one of her patients as if they were her family. Receiving her dental degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, she has worked as a dentist for 12 years and enjoys getting to see her patients smile every day. Dr. Glanz joined Lone Star Circle of Care in July of 2009 and appreciates the opportunity to work closely with the community and help others. Away from the clinic, she likes gardening, practicing yoga, and is fluent in German and knows a little Spanish. Dr. Glanz is also passionate about nutrition and interested in special diets, especially food allergies.

Brandy Knapek, R.D.H.

Brandy has been a dental hygienist with Lone Star Circle of Care since July 2005 and enjoys being able to help patients feel better about their smile. She earned her Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene from Temple College and has participated in a variety of professional conventions, continuing education courses, and community service activities since earning her degree, including a project where she developed a dental care plan for the residents of a nursing home. In 2007, Brandy was awarded the Provider of the Quarter award from LSCC for the high level of care she provides to our patients. In her free time, Brandy enjoys kayaking, biking, and fishing.

Fiona Nunes, B.D.S.

Prior to joining Lone Star Circle of Care in July 2008, Dr. Nunes practiced general dentistry in Houston and Amarillo. She earned her dental degree in 1994 from the University of Pune in India, and later went on to earn a Masters of Public Health degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center. After completing advanced training in Dental Public Health, Dr. Nunes earned her Master of Science in Health Informatics from the University Texas Health Science Center. A great listener and dedicated provider, Dr. Nunes enjoys having the opportunity to care for and educate the community on optimal oral health one patient at a time. Away from the clinic, she spends her free time playing tennis, traveling and painting.

Roopa Satish, D.D.S.

Dr. Satish has been a board-certified dentist for over nine years and has been providing Lone Star Circle of Care patients with family dental services since 2004. She earned her DDS from New York University and completed her residency in general dentistry through the University of Texas Health Science Center, during which she gained extensive experience providing emergency dental services and working with children and medically-compromised, disabled, and special-needs patients. Dr. Satish, who is trilingual in English, Hindi, and Kannada, is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of General Dentistry, and the Austin Dental Society. In her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis with her young son.

Gerardo Bribiesca, M.D.

Dr. Bribiesca joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2009, and he loves having the opportunity to provide health care to both English- and Spanish-speaking patients. He has been a family physician for 34 years, having earned his degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, Mexico. After completing medical school, Dr. Bribiesca was an intern at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New York and completed his residency at Mercy-St. Luke’s Hospital in Iowa. He enjoys the variety and challenges offered by family medicine and says that each day is a new learning experience for him. He encourages all of his patients to practice healthy lifestyle habits that prevent illness, including tobacco cessation, proper nutrition, and exercise. In his spare time, Gerardo enjoys gardening, fishing, and playing the piano and guitar.

Carrie Culpepper, F.N.P.
Carrie joined Lone Star Circle of Care in December 2008, and ever since then she has loved collaborating with all of the bright, caring people who work here. She earned her Master of Science in nursing degree from Texas Woman’s University in Houston. She has been a Family Nurse Practitioner for three years and is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the Texas Nurses’ Association. In addition to treating patients at LSCC, Carrie is also a preceptor for Nurse Practitioner students at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi. Through this position, she supervises students as they complete their clinical rotations in family medicine. Before joining LSCC, Carrie provided family care in emergency departments, hospitals, and clinics throughout Texas. Her focus is on helping patients set realistic expectations for managing their chronic diseases and keeping their wellness goals. In her free time, Carrie enjoys running, sewing, and cooking. She lives in Georgetown with her husband, children, and dog and is an avid Longhorn sports fan.

Maria has been a board-certified Adult Nurse Practitioner since 2001, when she earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Texas at Arlington, and she has been part of the Lone Star Circle of Care team since 2006. Maria, who is English/Spanish bilingual, emphasizes the importance of setting goals for healthy living and enjoys teaching patients how to maintain their health and wellness over the long term. She has experience treating adult patients within a variety of settings throughout Texas, including hospitals, correctional facilities, and Fort Hood military base. In 2001, Maria was selected for a fellowship with the National Rural Health Association. Away from the clinic, Maria enjoys running, listening to music, and teaching English as a Second Language classes.

Ben Fiedler, M.D.

Dr. Fiedler, who is fluent in German and knows a little Spanish, earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and completed his residency at a family practice in Conroe. In 2005, he completed a fellowship in family medicine and obstetrics from the University Hospitals of Cleveland. Dr. Fiedler is board certified in family medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Texas Academy of Family Physicians Medical School, and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. Before joining the Lone Star Circle of Care team in May 2006, Dr. Fiedler served as a preceptor for family medicine students and provided inpatient and outpatient care to both family medicine and urgent care patients.

Roger Gildersleeve, M.D.

Dr. Gildersleeve is a reliable and compassionate primary care provider who joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2009. He loves his job because it gives him the opportunity to form relationships with people and their families, through which he is able to contribute to their health and well-being. He received his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston and has been a physician for seven years. Dr. Gildersleeve believes in caring for the whole patient in the context of their family and community, and is particularly interested in medical education. He is fluent in Spanish and also speaks some Russian, and in his free time he enjoys yoga, hiking, and playing golf.

Meredith Hartline, F.N.P.

Meredith joined Lone Star Circle of Care in March 2009. After earning her Master of Science in Nursing in 2006 from Vanderbilt University, Meredith gained clinical experience working in a variety of health care settings, including a children’s hospital, a vocational rehabilitation center, general hospitals, and community clinics. Prior to joining LSCC, Meredith worked in family clinics throughout Texas, helping patients of all ages with acute care, chronic disease management, and wellness education. Meredith is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Dustin Munro, F.N.P.

Dustin, who joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2009, has been a Family Nurse Practitioner for over 30 years and has extensive experience providing direct patient care in a variety of health care settings, as well as experience with health care administration and management, patient education/outreach, and mentorship of graduate-level nursing students. Dustin earned her Family Nurse Practitioner certification from Indiana University.

Kathryn Potter, M.D.

Dr. Potter has been providing LSCC patients with family care since August 2009. Prior to joining the Lone Star Circle of Care team, she completed her residency in family medicine in Idaho, where she was part of a committee that implemented electronic medical records for a local medical center. Dr. Potter holds a medical degree from the Baylor College of Medicine, where she was Co-President of the Family Medicine Interest Group, and she is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Association.

Max Quintana, M.D.

Dr. Quintana is a bilingual physician who believes that everyone should have the right to the best available medical care regardless of their socioeconomic status. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Universidad Autonoma de Centro America in San Jose, Costa Rica, and has been caring for patients for 17 years. He joined the Lone Star Circle of Care team in 2009 and enjoys working in such a friendly and professional atmosphere. Dr. Quintana strives to be a positive influence in the lives of his patients from both a professional and personal point of view. Outside of work he enjoys biking, hiking and playing baseball.

Tamara Reyes, F.N.P.

As a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and a Registered Nurse, Tamara says her goal is to educate and advise her patients about wellness, while still letting them be active participants in the health care decision-making process. She recognizes that providers are only one part of the process and that patients have to be engaged to make the “patient/provider team” effective. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mary Hardin-Baylor University, Tamara went on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing from Ball State University in Indiana and was certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse in 2009. Prior to joining Lone Star Circle of Care in 2009, Tamara worked as a staff nurse for emergency rooms in Killeen and Georgetown, served as a Clinical Nurse/Captain with the U.S. Air Force Reserves, and worked as a staff nurse at Fort Hood. Away from the clinic, Tamara enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.

Raymond Spaw, M.D.

Dr. Spaw, who is English/Spanish bilingual, earned his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean in the West Indies. He completed residencies in family practice at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Florida and Holston Valley Community Hospital in Tennessee. He has practiced as a family physician for 25 years in a variety of settings and roles, including his time spent as a flight surgeon and medical officer with the U.S. Navy, as well as his time in private practice. Dr. Spaw is certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, as well as being a Diplomat for the American Board of Family Practice. He is also a member of the American Academy of Family Practice, the Texas Academy of Family Physicians, and the Texas Medical Association.

Joanna strives to act as an advocate for all of her patients to help them receive holistic care. She became a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2009, receiving her degree from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She has over six years of nursing experience working with women and children and she says that the most rewarding aspect of her job is being able to collaborate with other health care providers to help patients live healthier lives. Joanna joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2009 and is inspired by LSCC’s mission to provide care to the underserved. She is dedicated to working with patients of all ages, and she is particularly interested in diabetes management and education. In her spare time, Joanna enjoys reading, cooking, playing golf, and spending time with her friends and family.

Nicole is a dedicated medical provider with 14 years of nursing experience. She became a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2009, receiving her degree from Texas Tech University Health Science Center. She feels the most rewarding part of her job is connecting with adults, children and families for the purpose of helping them reach and maintain their optimal level of health. Nicole joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2009 because it offered her a way to have a positive impact on her community. She is committed to educating and counseling patients in health promotion and maintenance and tailoring medical care to include the priorities of her patients. An avid reader, she also loves cooking with her family and spending time outdoors.

Carlos Victorica, M.D.

Before joining Lone Star Circle of Care, Dr. Victorica completed his residency in New York, where he gained experience in understanding the role of psychological and social issues in patients’ overall health. He also became interested in treating the unique needs of adolescents, focusing on obesity and the prevention of teen pregnancy. Dr. Victorica, who speaks Spanish and Dutch fluently, earned his medical degree from the University of Florida in 2004.

Pamela Willis, F.N.P.

Pam earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wichita State University and received her Master of Science/Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Texas Woman’s University in 2000. Before joining Lone Star Circle of Care, Pam served as a Registered Nurse and, later, as a Nurse Practitioner in medical centers in Mississippi and Texas. Most recently, Pam served as the Family Practice President and CEO at a clinic in McKinney, Texas, where she provided all aspects of primary care to adults and children. Pam is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the Texas Nurse Practitioner’s Association, and her professional interests include mental health issues such as addiction and depression.

Trudy earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1997 and is certified by the National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing Specialties. Before becoming a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner for Lone Star Circle of Care in April 2007, Trudy was LSCC’s Vice President of Quality/Compliance and New Programs. Prior to that role, Trudy held a variety of nursing leadership and project management positions at hospitals and medical centers throughout Austin, including most recently as the RN Consultant for program development at the North Austin Medical Center. Trudy says she enjoys working with women of all ages to achieve their optimal health.

Cinda Crosley, C.N.M

Cinda has been a Certified Nurse Midwife since 1998, when she earned her Nurse-Midwifery Certificate from the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing. Cinda also holds a Master of Science in Nursing from Case Western Reserve University, is board certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board, and is licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. Before starting work at Lone Star Circle of Care in 2004, Cinda worked as a women’s health/prenatal care provider and clinical instructor at OB/GYN clinics, medical centers, and hospitals throughout the county.

Misty Graham, W.H.N.P.

Misty joined Lone Star Circle of Care in November 2008, and in her capacity as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, she provides OB/GYN care to women throughout their lifespan. Prior to joining the LSCC team, Misty provided prenatal, labor/delivery, and postpartum care throughout Texas to women and their newborns, including those at high risk of pregnancy-related complications. Misty, who is somewhat fluent in Spanish, earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati in 2007 and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Tarleton State University. A member of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses, Misty strives to relate to her patients on a personal level to facilitate an open, compassionate and respectful environment to reach their health care needs. In her free time she enjoys reading, listening to live music and spending time with her husband and son.

Sabrina Hanna, M.D.

Before joining Lone Star Circle of Care in 2009, Dr. Hanna worked as the Assistant Clinic Director for a private OB/GYN clinic in Tennessee and as a Clinical Instructor for the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center. Dr. Hanna holds a medical degree from the University of South Carolina, and in 2005, she completed her residency in obstetrics/gynecology at Providence Hospital in Michigan. Dr. Hanna has a wide variety of volunteer and community service experience, and she is also a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the National Medical Association, and the Association of Clinicians for the Underserved.

Cammie Hauser, C.N.M.

Cammie received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and her master’s and post graduate degrees from the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing. She enjoys the continuity of care that comes from working in the medical field and finds it very rewarding to see her patients benefit from the care she has provided them. Cammie is particularly passionate about family care and has tailored her education to meet the needs of those who are beginning new families. Her specialization is in birth and women’s health, though most recently, she has experience in emergency and critical care. She joined Lone Star Circle of Care in January 2010 and has been in the medical field for over 15 years. Away from the clinic, Cammie enjoys painting, horseback riding, scuba diving and supporting her children in their various activities.

Tara Heyliger, D.O.

In her role as an obstetrician/gynecologist for Lone Star Circle of Care, Dr. Heyliger constantly seeks to provide compassionate and dedicated care to her patients. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her internship and residency in obstetrics/gynecology at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey. While there, Dr. Heyliger was chosen as the Chief OB/GYN Resident. Since she joined LSCC in January 2009, and during her three years working in a private practice, Dr. Heyliger has enjoyed developing a bond with her patients and their families and being their health care advocate. She is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Medical Association, the American Osteopathic Association, and the National Medical Association. In her spare time, Dr. Heyliger enjoys making jewelry, cooking, and listening to live music.

Frank Hinds, M.D.

Dr. Hinds joined Lone Star circle of Care in 2006 and helped develop LSCC’s OB/GYN program. He is committed to ensuring that every patient receives the highest quality care. Dr. Hinds earned his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M, attended medical school at UT Health Science Center in Houston and completed his OB/GYN residency program as Chief Resident at Memorial Hermann Hospital. As a caring clinician, Dr. Hinds really tries to let his patients know how excited he is about their pregnancy. Prevention is a key focus for Dr. Hinds, since proper prenatal care allows opportunities to prevent complications prior to delivery.

Tesa Miller, M.D.

Dr. Miller joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2009 to experience the unique opportunity of caring for women throughout their lives. Dr. Miller earned her medical degree from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine and she completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Austin. She is a member of the Texas Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, as well as the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. In her free time, Dr. Miller enjoys reading, cooking, and rock climbing.

Marcellus Pearce, M.D.

Dr. Pearce earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University in 2003, and in 2007 he completed his internship and residency in obstetrics/gynecology at a medical center in Tennessee. Starting in the 2008-2009 academic year, Dr. Pearce began training third- and fourth-year medical students in his role as a faculty preceptor at the Texas A&M Health Science Center in Round Rock. Dr. Pearce was voted the Student Favorite Preceptor in Obstetrics and Gynecology for the 2008-2009 academic year by Texas A&M students. He is a member of the American Medical Association and a Junior Fellow with the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Tom Phelps, D.O.

In his role as the OB/GYN Medical Director at Lone Star Circle of Care, Dr. Phelps provides patient care and oversees LSCC’s OB/GYN and women’s health providers. He completed his medical degree at the University of North Texas Science Center and trained at Tulane University School of Medicine and Charity Hospital System. Before joining LSCC in August 2008, Dr. Phelps worked at a clinic in Temple for eight years, spent three years as an emergency room physician at a hospital in Pineville, Louisiana, and provided obstetrics and gynecology services at a youth correctional center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Dr. Phelps, who is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, made the decision to join LSCC because he is personally committed to providing comprehensive, quality care to uninsured and underinsured women.

Jamie Anderson, P.N.P.

Jamie chose to be a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner because she enjoys seeing children grow physically, mentally, and emotionally and watching their unique personalities develop over time. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing in 2009 from the University of Texas at Austin and joined the Lone Star Circle of Care team in October 2009. Jamie has experience working in pre- and post-surgery care units at Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas, and has acted as a preceptor for graduate nurses. Her goal as a health care provider is to educate and support parents about good preventative health and provide a safe environment for children to ask questions about their bodies and their health. Jamie participates in the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners special interest group on childhood obesity. She also actively volunteers with Operation Smile, a worldwide children’s medical charity, and has already helped children in China, Morocco, India, Peru, Mexico, and Senegal. In her free time, Jamie enjoys reading, learning about other cultures, and scrapbooking.

Heather Ashley, P.N.P.

As a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and a believer in Lone Star Circle of Care’s mission to provide health care to everyone, regardless of insurance status or income, Heather works to ensure that each patient receives the same level of care that she would expect her own children to receive. She enjoys building a relationship with her patients as they grow and develop. Heather became a Registered Nurse in 2003, and in 2009 she earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. During her time treating post-trauma and post-surgery patients in various children’s hospitals throughout Texas, Heather enjoyed being able to make a difference in the lives of her patients and following up with them as they healed and recovered. Heather joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2009 to continue working with children in a high quality, person-centered health care environment. In her free time, she enjoys camping, reading, and traveling.

Edgar Bacares, M.D.

A bilingual provider, Dr. Bacares is fluent in Spanish and says he loves working with kids because they are just more fun to treat! He is a board certified pediatrician and began work at Lone Star Circle of Care in the summer of 2008. He received his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) and his MD at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Dr. Bacares completed his residency at North Shore University Hospital in Long Island. He worked as a general pediatrician in New York City and upstate New York for nine years. Dr. Bacares is a preceptor in the pediatric department of the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine in Round Rock. In this role, he mentors third and fourth-year medical students as they receive hands-on experience in pediatric care. In his free time, Dr. Bacares enjoys playing his guitar, painting and soccer as well as spending time with his wife and children.

Ryn Berger, P.N.P.

Ryn has been a valuable addition to Lone Star Circle of Care’s pediatric staff since she joined our team in 2008. She loves rock climbing and playing outside with her two year old daughter and emphasizes the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle to her patients. She received her Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center School of Nursing and became a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP). She has extensive experience in breast feeding education and loves babies. Ryn also believes in prevention-focused pediatrics and the importance of health maintenance. She is a native Austinite who loves living in Central Texas.

Molly Bhatti, M.D.

Dr. Bhatti received her medical degree at Punjabi University in Patiala, India and worked as a primary physician in Mohali, India for two years. She moved to the U.S. shortly after her marriage, completing her residency at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. Dr. Bhatti spent four years working as a pediatrician in Tipton, Indiana, before joining Lone Star Circle of Care. Fluent in Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu, she is currently learning Spanish and is married with two young boys of her own.

Kathleen Butler, M.D.

Dr. Butler is a board certified pediatrician and joined the Lone Star Circle of Care team in 2008 as the Director of Pediatric Services. She received her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and completed her pediatric training at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. Dr. Butler is dedicated to educating children and their families about safe, healthy lifestyles that benefit their overall well-being outside of the clinic. She also strives to improve the quality, safety and effectiveness of health care available for children. As such, she has previously served as a Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Regional Advisory Committee member. Among her many certifications, Dr. Butler is a Certified Asthma Educator through the National Asthma Educator Certification Board.

Cathy Carrizales-Pintor, F.N.P.

Cathy has been with Lone Star Circle of Care since its inception in 2002 and is proud to be a part of its ever-growing model of community health care. She received her RN, BSN and Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate from Purdue University in Indiana and has been caring for patients for over 30 years. Cathy enjoys watching her patients and their families grow, and believes that children are blessings that should be cared for in the best way possible. She sees pediatrics as a team sport and values being open with parents and families, especially empowering parents so they can make informed decisions about their child’s health care. Cathy has been married for 18 years and has a 12 year old son. She also enjoys traveling, reading and working Sudoku puzzles in her free time.

Carrie Culpepper, F.N.P.

Carrie joined Lone Star Circle of Care in December 2008, and ever since then she has loved collaborating with all of the bright, caring people who work here. She earned her Master of Science in nursing degree from Texas Woman’s University in Houston. She has been a Family Nurse Practitioner for three years and is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the Texas Nurses’ Association. In addition to treating patients at LSCC, Carrie is also a preceptor for Nurse Practitioner students at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi. Through this position, she supervises students as they complete their clinical rotations in family medicine. Before joining LSCC, Carrie provided family care in emergency departments, hospitals, and clinics throughout Texas. Her focus is on helping patients set realistic expectations for managing their chronic diseases and keeping their wellness goals. In her free time, Carrie enjoys running, sewing, and cooking. She lives in Georgetown with her husband, children, and dog and is an avid Longhorn sports fan.

Wren received her Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN) from The University of Texas at Austin and is certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP). A dedicated pediatric provider who also speaks Spanish, Wren enjoys interacting with a wide range of cultural backgrounds. She has been a part of Lone Star Circle of Care since 2004 and takes pride in working with the patient and family as a whole. Wren especially enjoys working with children with special health care needs and developmental delays. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her 3 year old son, newborn daughter, and husband.

Larry Fane, M.D.

Dr. Fane brings enthusiasm and experience to Lone Star Circle of Care’s pediatric practice. Dr. Fane graduated from the University of Iowa and has been caring for pediatric patients for more than 40 years. He has been with Lone Star Circle of Care since January 2006 and served as interim Chief Medical Officer for 18 months. Dr. Fane takes every opportunity to educate his patients about how to be healthy through preventative care and an active lifestyle. He has experience caring for patients’ multi-level illnesses, but also simply enjoys the fun that pediatrics and children bring to his life. As a retired colonel from the U.S. Army, Dr. Fane has spent time serving in clinics in Germany and Guatemala. The most recent of his series of teaching appointments is with the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine where he was named Student Favorite Preceptor for Pediatrics, 2008-2009. He and his wife, Cathie, have three children of their own.

Emily is passionate about her patients, caring for each as if they were part of her family. She especially enjoys watching children grow and staying connected with her patients’ lives. Emily is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP) and graduated from Nurse Practitioner School at The University of Texas at Austin. She joined Lone Star Circle of Care’s pediatric team in 2007. In her spare time, Emily enjoys cooking healthy meals at home and spending time with her children and husband.

Amanda joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2010 and believes that her strength as a pediatric provider lies in her ability to connect with children on a personal level and make them comfortable while ensuring that they are properly examined and treated. She admires the fragile, yet resilient nature of children and believes pediatric medicine is unique because the patients need to be treated as children rather than just small adults. Having received her master’s degree in nursing degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor’s from the University of Central Arkansas, Amanda has worked as a nurse for 8 years and a pediatric nurse practitioner for 6 years. In her free time, Amanda enjoys running, scrapbooking, reading and gardening.

Joanne Li-Pelaez, D.O.

Dr. Li-Pelaez is an optimistic pediatrician who believes that laughter and humor have a place in the treatment of her patients. She loves kids’ healthy and active philosophy on life and says she is a kid at heart herself. Dr. Li-Pelaez completed her undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University and received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of North Texas Health Science Center. She is a firm supporter of advancing children’s education and promotes the Reach Out and Read program to her patients. She served in the U.S. Marines Corps as an Assistant Group Surgeon in 2003, providing medical care for the active duty forces stationed in Kuwait. Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, she has been a part of the Lone Star Circle of Care team since July 2008. Dr. Li-Pelaez is a preceptor in the pediatrics department of the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine in Round Rock, where she is helping to train the next generation of pediatricians.

Melanie is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP) and has been with Lone Star Circle of Care since June 2007. She has more than 25 years of pediatric experience, including several years in the U.S. Air Force and a position coordinating programs to help critically ill children. She earned her Master’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Melanie loves children and has two boys of her own, ages 17 and 22. She is dedicated to working with parents to raise happy and healthy kids and enjoys helping parents recognize the unique specialness of their individual child.

Jaclyn Marroquin, M.D.

Dr. Marroquin says that her favorite part of being a pediatrician is watching children grow and helping their parents anticipate and enjoy each stage of development. She has been a pediatrician since 2006, when she earned her medical degree from Loyola University Chicago. While she was in medical school, she traveled to Guatemala and Bolivia, treating local families for malnutrition, tropical diseases, and other illnesses. Before joining Lone Star Circle of Care in 2009, Dr. Marroquin worked as a pediatric resident at Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin. Her philosophy of care centers on using the team approach with parents to keep children healthy. She places a high priority on educating families about their children’s health, and has a special interest in newborn care, especially for first-time parents. In her free time, Dr. Marroquin enjoys traveling, running around Town Lake, and watching Notre Dame football.

Natacha Pankratz, M.D.

Dr. Pankratz loves working with pediatric patients and feels it is critical to take time to listen to their needs. She has been a part of the LSCC pediatric staff since August 2005. She is board certified in pediatrics and has been caring for pediatric patients for more than 6 years. Dr. Pankratz graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and completed her residency at the University of Kansas. In addition to working cooperatively with families to maintain the patient’s physical wellness, Dr. Pankratz is also committed to ensuring that each child is learning to the best of his or her ability while under her care and support.

Denise Pautler, M.D.

Dr. Pautler received her medical degree from the Texas A&M Health Science Center and completed her pediatric residency at The Children’s Hospital at Scott & White in June 2009. She is happy to be of service to her patients and is understanding of parents’ needs and concerns about their children. Dr. Pautler joined Lone Star Circle of Care in January 2010 and believes all children should have access to health care regardless of insurance or their ability to pay. Passionate about children, she admires their imaginations and enjoys listening to their creative stories. When she is not caring for her pediatric patients, Dr. Pautler enjoys reading and making handcrafts, such as embroidery and crochet.

Dr. Shah is a dedicated pediatrician who is devoted to the competent and compassionate care of her patients. She received her Medical Doctorate with High Distinction from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan and completed her residency at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Shah has been working in pediatrics for 7 years and loves her work because it gives her the opportunity to interact with children and take part in their lives. She has been a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics since 2001, and has served as a fellow for the past 2 years. In her free time she enjoys sports, especially tennis and biking, and also likes watching movies and traveling.

Dr. Shah joined Lone Star Circle of Care in January 2010 and has been caring for pediatric patients for three years. She received her medical degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth and completed her residency at Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas. Dr. Shah is dedicated to promoting the well being of infants, children and adolescents by providing high quality medical care that emphasizes prevention of illness and injury. Additionally, she emphasizes the importance of providing a healthy environment for a child’s emotional and intellectual development. She encourages her patients to participate in their own care and also advises families to participate in the care of their children. Aside from treating patients, Dr. Shah spends her time traveling, listening to live music and spending time with her family.

Joy is dedicated to providing her patients and their families with not only health care, but also advice and health education. She has been a nurse practitioner for 22 years and joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2009. She received her nursing degree from The University of Texas at Austin and also attended the Texas A&M - Corpus Christi Graduate School of Nursing for a post graduate degree and nurse practitioner training. In her free time she plays golf and also enjoys yard work and home improvement projects. Joy seeks to provide every patient with the best care possible, and has special medical interests in children with hematological and oncological problems.

Dr. West joined Lone Star Circle of Care in December 2009 with over 25 years of experience in the medical field. She loves watching children grow and develop, and as a pediatric provider she has the privilege of helping children and their families make positive steps towards healthy lives. Familiar with medical Spanish, Dr. West is especially knowledgeable about asthma and also has experience treating ADHD patients. Outside of work, she is passionate about plants and gardening as well as reading and spending time with her family. An avid traveler, Dr. West has also participated in many medical mission trips to countries such as Mexico and Thailand over the past ten years. Dr. West received her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

Timothy Whitaker, M.D.
Dr. Whitaker received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and completed his internship and residency programs at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. In addition to his medical degree, he also holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Rice University. Dr. Whitaker joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2009.

Charlie Williams, M.D.
Dr. Williams joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2009 and takes pride in his position as a pediatric provider. He listens to his patients and their parents, giving them the same care that he would want his own children to receive. Dr. Williams attended medical school at Texas A&M Health Science Center and completed residency training at Methodist Hospital of Indiana and Scott & White Hospital. He has been in the medical field for 25 years. In addition to caring for his own patients, Dr. Williams is also passionate about teaching residents and medical students the art of caring for children. He speaks some Spanish, and in his free time Dr. Williams enjoys hunting, shooting and restoring old Studebaker trucks.

Jesse Zaitchik, P.N.P.

Jesse loves interacting with children of all ages and is dedicated to making them feel at ease while in the clinic. Known for making children laugh, he always tries to get on a child’s level during interactions and is invested in every patient that he sees. Jesse speaks Spanish at an intermediate level and is a huge Boston sports fan. He enjoys being active and spending time outside, and also plays in an adult baseball league. Jesse received his nursing degree from MGH School of Nursing in Boston, MA, and his undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts. He joined Lone Star Circle of Care in January 2010. Jesse believes that every child has a right to excellent medical care and is proud to work for an organization that shares his view.
