A business-minded nonprofit “committed to the energetic and steadfast pursuit of quality, accessible, and sustainable primary healthcare, focusing on the uninsured and underserved,” Lone Star Circle of Care’s rapid success is the result of leveraging Community Health Center benefits with investments from stakeholders, including Foundations, hospital systems and private donors. The return on these investments is significant, and the beneficiaries are medically underserved children, adults and seniors who would otherwise live without primary healthcare.
This innovative and focused approach, a true public/private partnership, has created a highly efficient, scalable, and sustainable model in the midst of a national healthcare crisis.
Given its success, LSCC has been tapped by local, State and National organizations to assist aspiring and existing community health centers over the last three years. LSCC senior staff members have donated over 2,000 hours of direct operational and business support to over 10 community health centers, illustrating that the company lives its core values: integrity, innovation, compassion, respect, & leadership, as well as its mission.
The organization’s latest project will help thousands of people in Texas access quality, affordable primary healthcare through their local community health centers.
In June 2008, a core group of LSCC’s staff, currently known as the Community Health Center Committee, was selected by a private Trust to recommend and oversee significant investments supporting the new development and/or expansion of community health centers in Texas. The CHC Committee will directly mentor each selected grantee to ensure the investment is successful. The 10 year projected impact of the first investment is 3 million patient visits and more than $15M in net income which will be applied to uncompensated care.
The CHC Committee believes that this unique investment strategy will appeal to other Foundations, Trusts and individuals that desire to support leveraged and efficient primary healthcare models. In addition to creating a formalized structure, members of the CHC Committee will pursue new investments to support this project that has the potential to provide access to care for millions of people.
