Our clinicians, which include physicians, certified nurse practitioners, and certified physician assistants, are full time paid staff members who are dedicated to the mission of Lone Star Circle of Care. Each of them is a highly qualified medical professional who offers his or her patients personalized, compassionate care. Many of our physicians are also accredited faculty with the Texas A&M Health Science Center – College of Medicine, teaching the doctors of tomorrow about providing quality care in a community health setting. In addition, several of our Certified Nurse Practitioners act as preceptors for local nursing students.

    Behavioral Health

  • Leroy Arenivar, M.D.

    Dr. Arenivar is fluent in Spanish and received his Medical Degree from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston.  He is excited to have the opportunity to provide care from a biopsychosocial perspective and collaboratively work with his colleagues to ensure the utmost quality and integrated care is delivered.  Dr. Arenivar’s approach to treatment is holistic and mirrors Lone Star Circle of Care’s integrated care model.  He enjoys spending time watching movies, traveling and exercising.

  • Jered Benedick, LCSW

    Jered Benedick provides psychotherapy and counseling services in Lone Star Circle of Care’s behavioral health department. Prior to joining LSCC in 2011, he had a private counseling practice, where he provided marriage/family counseling, adolescent counseling, group therapy, and crisis intervention. Jered earned his Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2004, and his areas of professional experience include assessing and treating veterans’ mental health needs and using cognitive behavioral therapy to treat a variety of mental health disorders. In his free time, Jered enjoys fishing, sports, and home improvement projects.

  • Dydia Burnsed, LCSW

    Dydia, a bilingual provider who joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2010, earned her Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin and has been working as a licensed social worker since 2002. Her professional clinical experience includes counseling and crisis intervention for hospital patients in the emergency room, intensive care, and neonatal intensive care departments, as well as end-of-life counseling through Hospice Austin. Dydia has served as a volunteer grief counselor, facilitating grief counseling groups and life-skills workshops for children and adolescents. As such, Dydia has a particular interest in helping patients develop the necessary tools for coping with grief and loss issues. She is a good listener and appreciates the opportunity to help her patients achieve more for themselves in life. In her free time, Dydia can be found enjoying arts and crafts and working with her hands.

  • George Hill, Ph.D.

    Dr. Hill joined the LSCC team in 2012 and feels best when he can work with patients who do not have access to behavioral health care in traditional settings. He is excited to work at LSCC because of our integrated model of treatment. He really enjoys working with patients with challenging behavioral health problems to improve their over-all health and well-being. Dr. Hill is a good listener and is very non-judgmental. He is able to empathize with his patients and likes to work with the patient to create solutions that will help them to feel better and to improve their life. His philosophy of care is that no matter what has happened in the past, everyone is still able to make positive changes in the present to improve their lives. Dr. Hill’s hobbies include breeding and raising Paso Fino horses, reading mystery novels, bowling and bird watching. When not working, he enjoys spending time with family and traveling.

  • Brian Kennedy, LPC

    Brian Kennedy believes that each person who receives mental health services should be treated as an individual, and considers it a privilege to be able to help people change their lives in a positive way.  He received a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University in 2006 and became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2009.  Brian is trained in psychotherapy, group counseling, and teaching psychology, and has extensive experience working with adolescents, most recently through the Upward Bound program in San Antonio.  He joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2009 because of the unique opportunity to work with a variety of patients in a community health center environment. In his free time, Brian enjoys cycling, traveling, and discovering new musicians.

  • Judy Koo, MD

    Dr. Koo is a graduate of the University of Hong Kong and has practiced as a psychiatrist for eleven years.  She enjoys working with children as they make progress in their treatment and school work, partnering with the entire family to enhance a successful outcome.   She finds satisfaction in serving persons whose resources are limited and in need of her support.  Dr. Koo is fluent in the English and Cantonese languages.  In her spare time, she enjoys rock concerts and pop music.

  • Janet Liepman, LPC

    Janet comes to LSCC with more than 20 years of experience as a school counselor.  She looks forward to building trusting relationships with her clients and focusing on their behavioral and mental health.  With a strong belief that each client should be treated holistically, she seeks to move each individual toward the realization of their personal goals.  Janet is proud to be a part of LSCC and its mission to care for the underserved.  As an experienced counselor, Janet believes that the capacity for change is in each individual.  Away from work, Janet enjoys reading, gardening, movies, and spending time with family.

  • Harry Livesay, LCSW

    Harry joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2010 as a licensed clinical social worker. He earned his Master of Social Work degree from the University of Houston in 1994.  He has experience, including providing therapy to children, adolescents, adults, seniors, couples, and families through the Harris County Hospital District’s community health centers, Houston Area school-based clinics, and counseling centers.  He also has experience treating substance abuse disorders and has done extensive work with individuals and families impacted by HIV/AIDS.  Harry believes that everyone has the right to be heard, valued and respected and carries this philosophy with him when interacting with patients. As a behavioral health provider, Harry enjoys getting to know about his patients’ lives and empowering them to continue their own unique life journeys in positive and healing directions. Outside of work, his hobbies include collecting comic books, watching movies and playing with his four cats.

  • Matthew Maa, P.M.H.N.P.

    A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Matthew is passionate about providing care to those who are in need, and especially to those who have difficulty finding the care they need. He strives to find an optimal plan for all patients, and has a calming demeanor that makes him easy to talk to. Matthew is excited to work for Lone Star Circle of Care and deliver behavioral health services to those seeking care. He is an avid rock climber and volunteers at a local climbing gym. In addition, he enjoys reading, playing with his pets, and biking.

  • Demetria McCann, LPC

    Demetria McCann is a graduate of Our Lady of the Lake University and joined LSCC in 2012.  She enjoys working with teenagers, finding them to be unique and interesting, and looks forward to helping them reach their full potential.  Demetria listens empathetically to her patients in order to help facilitate change.  She enjoys learning new things in the field of mental health and has a special interest in treating those affected by PTSD.  As a counselor who is dedicated to her patients, Demetria is proud to work for an organization that supports the whole patient, treating their mind, body and soul.  In her spare time, Demetria enjoys reading, board games and Zumba.

  • Eric Meehan, M.D.

    Dr. Meehan joined the LSCC team in 2012. He attended the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston for medical school, did his residency in psychiatry at the University of Colorado, and then went on to do a fellowship in adult and child psychiatry at East Carolina University. He is committed to his patients and loves the ability to get to know his patients and their families. He sees it as an honor to be allowed a role in a child or adolescent’s life. He tries to provide a comfortable setting for his patients and their families as he helps them and likes to give them options they can choose from for their care. He loves the fact that patients are the priority at LSCC and that we provide collaborative care. Dr. Meehan’s hobbies include spending time with his family, playing with his two girls, and watching Texas A&M sports.

    Kevin Nielsen joined Lone Star Circle of Care’s behavioral health team in 2011 and enjoys working collaboratively with a cross-disciplinary group of LSCC medical providers, therapists, and psychiatrists to provide comprehensive care for his patients. Kevin earned his Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) degree from the University of Vermont. As a provider, Kevin is committed to working with patients to help them lead richer, more meaningful lives, and enjoys helping people use their strengths to overcome problems.   • Monique Pepin-Fisher, LCSW

    Monique received her Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Masters in Social Work (MSW) degrees from Loyola University in Chicago.  She finds the most fulfillment through direct interaction with patients of all ages and varying backgrounds.  She enjoys offering assistance to those seeking therapeutic interventions and fully supports Lone Star Circle of Care’s mission to provide access to care for all.  Monique joined the Lone Star Circle of Care team in 2012 and is truly committed to caring for those who are underserved.  She has significant experience with adolescents as well as those coping with mental illness.  In her free time, Monique enjoys doing yoga, reading and spending time with family and friends.

  • Dorothea Pitikas, LCSW

    Dorothea Pitikas joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2011 as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Houston with a concentration in children and families, and completed a social work internship in which she provided therapy for children. She is also a member of the National Association of Social Workers. Dorothea has professional experience providing individual, family, and group therapy in a variety of settings, including residential facilities, partial hospitalization programs, and schools. Her most recent position prior to joining LSCC was as a clinical therapist for a residential treatment facility, where she provided individual, group, and family therapy to adolescents with behavioral and/or psychiatric disorders. Dorothea enjoys helping children and adolescents find creative solutions to the problems that hold them back from reaching their full potential. Outside of work, Dorothea enjoys cooking, trying new restaurants and spending time with the people she loves.

    Pedro joined the LSCC team in 2012. LSCC’s philosophy of care, its target population and its interdisciplinary approach to behavioral health is what attracted him to the company. He graduated from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and loves using art and play therapy with his patients. He has great listening skills and truly believes in family involvement and solution focused therapy. Pedro speaks Spanish fluently and has a variety of hobbies including music, gardening, photography, and cooking.

    Kay earned her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary in 1997 and became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2003. Before joining Lone Star Circle of Care , Kay worked in assisted living facilities and foster care agencies throughout Washington and provided therapy to individuals and families in Washington for six years. Kay’s philosophy of care centers around enabling others to experience success and make the choices that will lead them to a better life. She also has experience helping couples improve their communication skills and teaching people ways to manage anxiety and depression. Outside of work, Kay enjoys baking, being outdoors, and being around animals, especially her pug Daisy Jane.

  • Zemly Turner, LPC

    Zemly Turner is a Licensed Professional Counselor who joined Lone Star Circle of Care’s behavioral health team in 2011. She has professional experience counseling children, adolescents, and adults on family and relationship issues in both individual and group settings, as well as conducting psychosocial and emergency assessments, case management, and crisis intervention/mediation. Prior to joining LSCC, Zemly worked in Killeen as a therapist and case manager for adolescents at a psychiatric hospital.  She has also served as an adjunct professor at Texas A&M Central Texas/Tarleton Central Texas, teaching classes on behavioral assessment and management. Zemly, who earned her degree from Amberton University in Garland, Texas, is committed to providing high-quality behavioral health care to the underserved in our community and enjoys helping families develop the skills they need to reach their goals. Outisde the clinic, Zemly enjoys bird-watching, gardening, and traveling with her family.

  • Melissa Renee Valdez, M.D.

    Dr. Valdez received her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and then graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. She joined the LSCC team in 2012 because she wanted to be a part of our mission. Dr. Valdez strives to bring concepts and people together and also believes that care should be comprehensive and tailored to the needs of the individual. She works hard to serve people within her expertise and to also connect them with those outside her expertise to achieve the very best outcomes possible. Dr. Valdez is speaks both English and Spanish and her hobbies include photography, videography, swimming, organizing, and spending time on the beach with her family.

  • Murali Vathada, MD

    A provider of more than 30 years, Dr. Vathada has 18 years of experience as a pediatrician. He is very good at listening to his patients and is very happy to continue working with children and families at LSCC. Dr. Vathada specializes in ADHD and when he is not working, he loves photography, gardening and tennis.

  • Tenya Wymore, LCSW

    Rigel Tenya Wymore received her licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Practitioner of Healing Arts from the University of Oklahoma.  She joined the LSCC team in July 2013 and looks forward to identifying the needs of patients in order to respond in treatment with an individualized approach.  Rigel has a special interest in providing proactive services and her patients will thoroughly enjoy how easy-going, friendly and calm she is with her patient’s needs.  In her free time, Rigel enjoys cooking, drawing and watching movies.

  • Denise Armstrong, D.D.S.

    Dr. Armstrong has been providing dental care to Lone Star Circle of Care patients since 2004 and is our Executive Director of Dental Operations. She has been a dentist for more than 20 years and has a wide array of experience in private practice dentistry, teaching and mentoring dental students, consulting for hospitals, and performing community service/volunteer dentistry at various health fairs. After earning her DDS degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, she completed Advanced Education in General Dentistry courses and completed a General Practice residency through the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Armstrong is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, and the American Association of Hospital Dentists. In 2008, she was voted by her peers as one of Austin’s Top Dentists.

  • Helene Glanz, D.D.S.

    Dr. Glanz deeply cares for and treats each one of her patients as if they were her family. Receiving her dental degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, she enjoys getting to see her patients smile every day. Dr. Glanz joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2009 and appreciates the opportunity to work closely with the community and help others. Away from the clinic, she likes gardening, practicing yoga, and is fluent in German. Dr. Glanz is also passionate about nutrition and interested in special diets, especially food allergies.

  • Roopa Satish , D.D.S.

    Dr. Satish is a board-certified dentist and  has been providing Lone Star Circle of Care patients with family dental services since 2004. She earned her DDS from New York University and completed her residency in general dentistry through the University of Texas Health Science Center, during which she gained extensive experience providing emergency dental services and working with children and medically-compromised, disabled, and special-needs patients. Dr. Satish, who is trilingual in English, Hindi, and Kannada, is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of General Dentistry, and the Austin Dental Society. In her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis with her son.

  • Brandy Tabor, R.D.H.

    Brandy has been a dental hygienist with Lone Star Circle of Care since 2005 and enjoys being able to help patients feel better about their smile. She earned her Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene from Temple College and has participated in a variety of professional conventions, continuing education courses, and community service activities since earning her degree, including a project where she developed a dental care plan for the residents of a nursing home. In 2007, Brandy was awarded the Provider of the Quarter award from LSCC for the high level of care she provides to our patients. In her free time, Brandy enjoys kayaking, biking, and fishing.

    Dr. Eapen joined the LSCC team in 2011 and has been practicing internal medicine for over three years. He graduated with his medical degree from Kasturba Medical College in India. Dr. Eapen became a doctor to help patients and to ultimately aid in disease prevention. He is very empathetic and believes that health care is a journey that the physician and patient take together. Dr. Eapen speaks English, Hindi and Malayalam and when not working enjoys cooking, watching movies, singing and dancing, camping outdoors, and mentoring and teaching youth.

  • Jennifer Farmer, F.N.P.

    Jennifer is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati School of Nursing and joined the LSCC team in 2012 with five years of experience as a nurse.  She is excited to serve her patients and build relationships with both the patient and their families so that they can collectively achieve a treatment plan that will lead to a healthy outcome.  As a provider, Jennifer is compassionate and attentive to the needs of her patients.  She is committed to providing exceptional care and is happy to be serving the needs of central Texans.  Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

  • Ben Fiedler, M.D.

    Dr. Fiedler, who is fluent in German, earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and completed his residency at a family practice in Conroe. In 2005, he completed a fellowship in family medicine and obstetrics from the University Hospitals of Cleveland. Dr. Fiedler is board certified in family medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Texas Academy of Family Physicians Medical School, and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. Before joining the Lone Star Circle of Care team in 2006, Dr. Fiedler served as a preceptor for family medicine students and provided inpatient and outpatient care to both family medicine and urgent care patients.

  • Peter Gembol, F.N.P.

    Peter is passionate about developing relationships with patients to enhance overall medical health, increase awareness of the importance of health maintenance, and enhance patient knowledge of disease prevention. A graduate of Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Peter joined LSCC in 2013, excited about the opportunity to provide health care to any patient in need of care. In his free time, Peter loves doing anything outside.

  • Rodolfo Gutierrez-Macias, M.D.

    Dr. Gutierrez-Macias’ philosophy of medical care is to always put his patients’ needs first and to do his best to ensure they are happy and healthy.  He received his Medical Degree from the Universidad de Guadalajara and has been practicing medicine for more than 15 years.  Dr. Gutierrez-Macias is fluent in Spanish and joined the Lone Star Circle of Care team in 2013.  He is committed to providing care to the community and helping the underserved population.  When he’s not treating patients, Dr. Gutierrez-Macias enjoys traveling, reading and playing the piano.

  • Cammie Hauser, F.N.P

    Cammie received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and her master’s and post graduate degrees from the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing. She enjoys the continuity of care that comes from working in the medical field and finds it very rewarding to see her patients benefit from the care she has provided them. Cammie is particularly passionate about family care and has tailored her education to meet the needs of those who are beginning new families. Her specialization is in birth and women’s health, though most recently, she has experience in emergency and critical care. Away from the clinic, Cammie enjoys painting, horseback riding, scuba diving and supporting her children in their various activities.

  • Tamika Latta, M.D.

    Dr. Latta attended the Marshall University School of Medicine and joined the LSCC team in 2012. She loves building lasting relationships with her patients. She is originally from the east but visited Austin and fell in love. She thoroughly enjoys working in the south Austin community and helping the underserved and uninsured. She is a non-judgmental and very easy going person and likes to guide her patients and help them make the best decisions about her health. Dr. Latta’s hobbies include reading, going to the movies, hanging out with her family and friends and she hopes to learn to cook. Now that she has moved to Austin, she looks forward to doing more outdoor activities.

    Ashley joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2010 after graduating from Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi. Ashley first worked with LSCC during her clinical rotations for graduate school. She quickly fell in love with the wonderful, patient centered environment of care and knew it was where she would like to work permanently. Ashley is a strong patient advocate who listens to her patients’ needs and works to help them achieve optimal health. She also believes in educating and empowering her patients to better manage their own health through preventive measures. In her free time, Ashley enjoys running, reading and spending time with family.

    Dr. Billue is a bilingual provider who has over thirty-two years of experience in women’s health. His areas of focus include gynecological surgery, uro-gynecology, and teenage health. Dr. Billue feels that it is a privilege to deliver his patients’ children and enjoys discovering the best way to care for their medical needs by discussing their health. In his spare time, Dr. Billue enjoys gardening, traveling, model trains, and hiking.

    Trudy earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1997 and is certified by the National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing Specialties. Before becoming a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner for Lone Star Circle of Care in 2007, Trudy was LSCC’s Vice President of Quality/Compliance and New Programs. Prior to that role, Trudy held a variety of nursing leadership and project management positions at hospitals and medical centers throughout Austin, including most recently as the RN Consultant for program development at the North Austin Medical Center. Trudy says she enjoys working with women of all ages to achieve their optimal health.

  • Kimberlee Coleman-Henderson, M.D.

    Dr. Coleman-Henderson joined Lone Star Circle of Care in winter 2010 as a board certified OB/GYN. She graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and has been practicing medicine for over 8 years. Dr. Coleman-Henderson is dedicated to providing quality care in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. She strives to make her patients feel as if they are visiting with a friend instead of being at a doctor’s appointment. She believes in working together as a team to decide the best treatment plan for each patient. Dr. Coleman-Henderson has a special interest in adolescent/teen gynecology and obstetrics and is also skilled in laparoscopic procedures. In her spare time, Dr. Coleman-Henderson enjoys attending her children’s sporting events, travelling, reading and participating in her church’s healthcare, homeless and teen parent ministries.

    In her role as an obstetrician/gynecologist for Lone Star Circle of Care, Dr. Heyliger constantly seeks to provide compassionate and dedicated care to her patients. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her internship and residency in obstetrics/gynecology at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey. While there, Dr. Heyliger was chosen as the Chief OB/GYN Resident. Since she joined LSCC in 2009, Dr. Heyliger has enjoyed developing a bond with her patients and their families and being their health care advocate. She is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Medical Association, the American Osteopathic Association, and the National Medical Association. In her spare time, Dr. Heyliger enjoys making jewelry, cooking, and listening to live music.

  • Crystal Kelly, M.D.

    Dr. Kelly received her degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and joined the LSCC team in 2012. She is bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish, and she believes every person should have access to quality health care regardless of their ability to pay. She is trustworthy, compassionate and honest and is truly devoted to the best interests of her patients. She believes in treating patients and their family members as if they were a member of her own family. She greatly enjoys caring for pregnant patients and having the opportunity to share in such an important moment in their lives. She likes building relationships with young adolescent patients and making them feel comfortable to talk about women’s health care. When not working, Dr. Kelly enjoys spending time with her family.

    Brandy is an experienced Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner.  A graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Brandy has practiced medicine throughout Central Texas and is excited to join LSCC’s OB/GYN team.  Brandy enjoys working in a fast paced environment and works well under pressure.  When interacting with patients, Brandy strives to ensure that each person feels informed about and comfortable with the health care they are receiving.  A good communicator, Brandy looks forward to connecting with new patients and providing them with the highest quality of care.

  • Andrew Mahaffey, M.D.

    Dr. Mahaffey completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency in 1987 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas after earning his undergraduate and medical degrees at Texas A&M University in 1979 and 1983, respectively. In 1991, after fulfilling a four-year obligation to the Air Force in Del Rio, Texas, he and his wife welcomed a move to Central Texas where he could join an established practice and they could raise their son, daughter, and longhorns. Dr. Mahaffey performs a broad range of gynecologic surgeries, and is very enthusiastic about caring for patients of Lone Star Circle of Care and building a relationship with each generation of their family. Dr. Mahaffey is board certified through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is a fellow in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a member of the Texas Medical Association, the Williamson County Medical Association, and the Texas Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. In addition to raising cattle, he enjoys restoring old cars and tractors.

  • Tom Phelps, D.O.

    In his role as the OB/GYN Medical Director at Lone Star Circle of Care, Dr. Phelps provides patient care and oversees LSCC’s OB/GYN and women’s health providers. He completed his medical degree at the University of North Texas Science Center and trained at Tulane University School of Medicine and Charity Hospital System. Before joining LSCC in 2008, Dr. Phelps worked at a clinic in Temple for eight years, spent three years as an emergency room physician at a hospital in Pineville, Louisiana, and provided obstetrics and gynecology services at a youth correctional center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Dr. Phelps, who is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, made the decision to join LSCC because he is personally committed to providing comprehensive, quality care to uninsured and underinsured women.

  • Richard Shea, M.D.

    Dr. Shea joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2010. He attended the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill where he earned his medical degree. He is also a Fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Shea strongly believes in informed care so that patients can actively participate in their health management. As an experienced OB/GYN, Dr. Shea is attentive to detail, listens well and provides diligent, compassionate care to his patients. Dr. Shea has extensive experience with high risk pregnancies, including the treatment of patients with diabetes and hyperinsulinemia. In his spare time, Dr. Shea enjoys reading, computer games, and playing tennis, golf and team sports.

  • Yasmeen Ali, M.D.

    Dr. Ali joined LSCC in 2012 and enjoys taking care of her patients.  A graduate of Dhaka Medical College and completing residency at Texas Tech El Paso, Dr. Ali takes her time with her patients, truly listening to their concerns.  Fluent in both English and Bengali, Dr. Ali enjoys reading, traveling and helping the impoverished children of Bangladesh.

  • Edgar Bacares, M.D.

    A bilingual provider, Dr. Bacares is fluent in Spanish and says he loves working with kids because they are just more fun to treat! He is a board certified pediatrician and began work at Lone Star Circle of Care in 2008. He received his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) and his MD at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Dr. Bacares completed his residency at North Shore University Hospital in Long Island. He worked as a general pediatrician in New York City and upstate New York for nine years. Dr. Bacares is a preceptor in the pediatric department of the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine in Round Rock. In this role, he mentors third and fourth-year medical students as they receive hands-on experience in pediatric care. In his free time, Dr. Bacares enjoys playing his guitar, painting and soccer as well as spending time with his wife and children.

  • Molly Bhatti, M.D.

    Dr. Bhatti received her medical degree at Punjabi University in Patiala, India and worked as a primary care physician in Mohali, India for two years. She moved to the U.S. shortly after her marriage, completing her residency at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. Dr. Bhatti spent four years working as a pediatrician in Indiana before joining Lone Star Circle of Care in 2009. Fluent in Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu, she is currently learning Spanish and is married with two young boys of her own. Dr. Bhatti likes to involve patient families in developing healthcare plans for their children so together they can reduce ER visits and acute illnesses. Her special interests include allergies, asthma, eating disorders, ADHD/behavioral issues and intestinal and kidney problems. When not caring for patients, Dr. Bhatti enjoys cooking, socializing, watching movies and listening to music.

  • Kathleen Butler, M.D.

    Dr. Butler is a board certified pediatrician and joined the Lone Star Circle of Care team in 2008 as the Director of Pediatric Services. She received her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and completed her pediatric training at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. Dr. Butler is dedicated to educating children and their families about safe, healthy lifestyles that benefit their overall well-being outside of the clinic. She also strives to improve the quality, safety and effectiveness of health care available for children. As such, she has previously served as a Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Regional Advisory Committee member. Among her many certifications, Dr. Butler is a Certified Asthma Educator through the National Asthma Educator Certification Board.

  • Cathy Carrizales-Pintor, F.N.P.

    Cathy has been with Lone Star Circle of Care since its inception in 2002 and is proud to be a part of its ever-growing model of community health care. She received her RN, BSN and Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate from Purdue University in Indiana. Cathy enjoys watching her patients and their families grow, and believes that children are blessings that should be cared for in the best way possible. She sees pediatrics as a team sport and values being open with parents and families, especially empowering parents so they can make informed decisions about their child’s health care. Cathy enjoys traveling, reading and working Sudoku puzzles in her free time.

  • Barakah Day, M.D.

    Dr. Barakah Day graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2007 and completed her residency at UT Southwestern at Austin. Dr. Day joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2010 as a pediatrician and enjoys working for an organization that encompasses all aspects of patient care. Dr. Day utilizes her listening skills, intuition and thoroughness to ensure that each of patient has a positive experience when visiting the doctor. She loves being around children and admires kids’ resilience. In her spare time, Dr. Day likes to stay active participating in sprint triathlons, flat track roller derby and watching Notre Dame football games.

  • Silvia Flores-Perkins, M.D.

    Dr. Flores-Perkins loves to build relationships with patients and watch them developed into balanced, happy adults. She hopes to make a positive influence in her patients’ lives by helping families find the best care for their children that works for their individual needs. Her areas of expertise are in asthma, allergies, and breastfeeding. When not working, you will find her reading, walking, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family.

    Paige Harmony confesses she is a big kid at heart and loves children.  As a bi-lingual speaker of English and Spanish, she anticipates she’ll enjoy providing holistic care while she develops relationships with families.  She’s an advocate for the family as a principle institution for health and wellbeing.  She acquired her RN from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, and her special medical interest is obesity.  Her philosophy is to “treat everyone with gracious humility.”  For recreation, she engages in outdoor activities, enjoys live music, poetry and good books.

    Amanda joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2010 and believes that her strength as a pediatric provider lies in her ability to connect with children on a personal level and make them comfortable while ensuring that they are properly examined and treated. She admires the fragile, yet resilient nature of children and believes pediatric medicine is unique because the patients need to be treated as children rather than just small adults. Having received her master’s degree in nursing degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor’s from the University of Central Arkansas, Amanda has worked as a nurse for 8 years and a pediatric nurse practitioner for 6 years. In her free time, Amanda enjoys running, scrapbooking, reading and gardening.

    Karen is committed to promoting healthy choices and interacting with families to reach these goals.  She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin as a certified family nurse practitioner.  Karen is a strong believer in patient education and building a patient-provider relationship.  She enjoys well child exams because she loves teaching her patients about anticipating needs and joined the LSCC team in 2012.  Karen’s passions are allergy and asthma education.  In her spare time, she loves traveling, horseback riding and reading.  She also loves to spend time with her children and helping them with their activities.

  • Joanne Li-Pelaez, D.O.

    Dr. Li-Pelaez is an optimistic pediatrician who believes that laughter and humor have a place in the treatment of her patients. She loves kids’ healthy and active philosophy on life and says she is a kid at heart herself. Dr. Li-Pelaez completed her undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University and received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of North Texas Health Science Center. She is a firm supporter of advancing children’s education and promotes the Reach Out and Read program to her patients. She served in the U.S. Marines Corps as an Assistant Group Surgeon in 2003, providing medical care for the active duty forces stationed in Kuwait. Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, she has been a part of the Lone Star Circle of Care team since 2008. Dr. Li-Pelaez is a preceptor in the pediatrics department of the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine in Round Rock, where she is helping to train the next generation of pediatricians.

  • Jaclyn Marroquin, M.D.

    Dr. Marroquin says that her favorite part of being a pediatrician is watching children grow and helping their parents anticipate and enjoy each stage of development. She has been a pediatrician since 2006, when she earned her medical degree from Loyola University Chicago. While she was in medical school, she traveled to Guatemala and Bolivia, treating local families for malnutrition, tropical diseases, and other illnesses. Her philosophy of care centers on using the team approach with parents to keep children healthy. She places a high priority on educating families about their children’s health, and has a special interest in newborn care, especially for first-time parents. In her free time, Dr. Marroquin enjoys traveling, running around Town Lake, and watching Notre Dame football.

  • Natacha Pankratz, M.D.

    Dr. Pankratz loves working with pediatric patients and feels it is critical to take time to listen to their needs. She has been a part of the LSCC pediatric staff since 2005 and is board certified in pediatrics. Dr. Pankratz graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and completed her residency at the University of Kansas. In addition to working cooperatively with families to maintain the patient’s physical wellness, Dr. Pankratz is also committed to ensuring that each child is learning to the best of his or her ability while under her care and support.

  • Kate Paskiewicz, PNP

    Kate loves working for LSCC because of the organization’s mission and focus. She wants to positively impact her patients’ and families’ lives by focusing on quality health care. Kate builds relationships with her patients and families, and loves watching them grow into happy, healthy young adults. A fun and energetic person, Kate enjoys singing, playing guitar and piano, running, cooking and baking, and taking her dog, Tyler, for walks.

  • Denise Pautler, M.D.

    Dr. Pautler received her medical degree from the Texas A&M Health Science Center and completed her pediatric residency at The Children’s Hospital at Scott & White in June 2009. She is happy to be of service to her patients and is understanding of parents’ needs and concerns about their children. Dr. Pautler joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2010 and believes all children should have access to health care regardless of insurance or their ability to pay. Passionate about children, she admires their imaginations and enjoys listening to their creative stories. When she is not caring for her pediatric patients, Dr. Pautler enjoys reading and making handcrafts, such as embroidery and crochet.

    Hector joined the LSCC team in July 2012 and he is excited to be joining an organization that is focused on community health care. Hector graduated from the University of Texas Pan American and has been practicing for three years. He loves educating his patients and their families on leading a healthy lifestyle. He is a very friendly provider who is able to connect with children to gain their confidence and trust. Hector speaks both English and Spanish and when not working, he enjoys playing and watching sports as well as reading, exercising and hanging out with his family.

    Kathy received her master’s degree from the University of Texas and joined the LSCC team in 2012 in order to provide care to those that need it the most. She loves being able to establish long-term, trusting relationships with patients and their families and to be a part of the journey that families take to meet their children’s needs. She believes that, as a pediatric provider, she has the distinct privilege of providing support and guidance to empower families in creating a foundation to a fulfilling and healthy life. Kathy is a compassionate provider who is thorough and who will go above and beyond in caring for her patients. Kathy is bilingual speaking both English and Vietnamese, and when not working, Kathy enjoys reading, gardening, going to movies and spending time with her husband, twin daughters and two dogs.

    Dr. West joined Lone Star Circle of Care in 2009 and has more than 25 years of experience in the medical field. She loves watching children grow and develop, and as a pediatric provider she has the privilege of helping children and their families make positive steps towards healthy lives. Familiar with medical Spanish, Dr. West is especially knowledgeable about asthma and also has experience treating ADHD patients. Outside of work, she is passionate about plants and gardening as well as reading and spending time with her family. An avid traveler, Dr. West has also participated in many medical mission trips to countries such as Mexico and Thailand. Dr. West received her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

    Dr. Dasgupta graduated with her degree in medicine from Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in India. She completed her residency at Wright State University in Ohio. At Wright State, she was Chief Resident over more than 20 of her peers. Dr. Dasgupta has a special interest in diabetes management and treating elderly patients. She believes in providing compassionate and professional care to her patients and likes to emphasize the importance of preventative care. She chose to work at LSCC because she loves the organization’s philosophy of providing care to all. Dr. Dasgupta is fluent in English, Hindi and Bengali and in her free time enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her children and family.
